Specification Quality Checklist: Database Schema Brush-Up & Auto-Generated Schema Diagram

Purpose: Validate specification completeness and quality before proceeding to planning Created: 2026-07-19 Feature: spec.md

Content Quality

  • [x] No implementation details (languages, frameworks, APIs)
  • [x] Focused on user value and business needs
  • [x] Written for non-technical stakeholders
  • [x] All mandatory sections completed

Requirement Completeness

  • [x] No [NEEDS CLARIFICATION] markers remain
  • [x] Requirements are testable and unambiguous
  • [x] Success criteria are measurable
  • [x] Success criteria are technology-agnostic (no implementation details)
  • [x] All acceptance scenarios are defined
  • [x] Edge cases are identified
  • [x] Scope is clearly bounded
  • [x] Dependencies and assumptions identified

Feature Readiness

  • [x] All functional requirements have clear acceptance criteria
  • [x] User scenarios cover primary flows
  • [x] Feature meets measurable outcomes defined in Success Criteria
  • [x] No implementation details leak into specification

Notes

  • This feature is inherently a developer/maintainer-facing infrastructure change (there is no end-user-facing UI), so "users" throughout this spec and checklist refers to maintainers/engineers working in this codebase — the checklist items above are evaluated against that audience rather than a general end-user.
  • 2026-07-19 clarification session: final schema names/groupings (core/collection/intelligence/ai_infra/user_prefs), the shared DbSchema enum, the arxiv_keyword model deletion, and the backend/config/settings.py scope addition are all now resolved decisions in spec.md (see Clarifications), not open questions. Some are stated with technical specificity (e.g. "Python enum", "pure module") because the user directed those choices explicitly during clarification, not because implementation was assumed unprompted — treated as legitimate FRs per this feature's code-structure subject matter, consistent with "No implementation details" being evaluated against user-value framing rather than banning all technical nouns.
  • The diagram's exact visual format (Mermaid vs. Graphviz, etc.) and backend/config/settings.py's exact API shape (constants vs. class) remain open, intentionally deferred to the planning phase — see Assumptions.
  • Items marked incomplete require spec updates before /speckit-clarify or /speckit-plan.
